Sample ImageWelcome to mAss Kickers!  As the power of the internet provides more information about one’s new diagnosis, the need for a website geared towards the newly diagnosed patient and his loved ones has emerged.  Patients are continually looking for information online.  mAss Kickers will fulfill this need by offering diagnosis specific trreatment information as well as informational books by leading experts and inspirational books by survivors of specific diagnoses to provide knowledge, courage, and strength through this difficult time. mAss Kickers is not offering specific information on certain diagnosis, but we are offering resources for information to those diagnoses.

We understand how intimidating this process is for everyone involved when you or a loved one gets an intimidating diagnosis.  We just want to provide helpful resources to make the process a little easier.  The information contained on this website is intended to be added to your “mAss Kicking Arsenal” and not intended to replace advice from your physician!  Please check out our mAss Kicking Arsenal… we’ll be expanding it!

The store will provide additional resources and a portion of the proceeds of your purchase will be donated to a group of specicially selected "mAss Kicking" charities.  Please view our  Selected charities .  The store gives you the unique opportunity to empower yourself or a loved one, while supporting the fight against cancer.  The contents of the store will be determined by you.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Wednesday, 08 October 2008
Sample ImageNational Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) organization is comprised of several national public service organizations, professional medical associations, and government agencies working in partnership to build breast cancer awareness, share information and provide access to screening services. NBCAM, and www.nbcam.org, are a year-round resource for patients, survivors, caregivers and the general public.

Since its beginning more than 20 years ago, NBCAM has been dedicated to increasing awareness of breast cancer issues, especially the importance of early detection. NBCAM has evolved along with the national dialogue on breast cancer. Many strides have been made in breast cancer awareness and treatment, but even more still needs to be accomplished. We are focused on encouraging women to take charge of their own breast health, by practicing regular self-breast exams, making sure to schedule an annual mammogram, adhering to prescribed treatment and knowing the facts about recurrence.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we encourage you to visit our site in October and regularly throughout

November is pancreatic cancer awareness month
Wednesday, 29 October 2008
Sample ImageAccording to the American Cancer Society (ACS), pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cancer killer in the country, with over 37,000 new cases expected and more than 34,000 deaths by year's end. In New Jersey alone, an estimated 1,000 deaths are expected this year due to the disease. The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) is making experts available to discuss the risks and treatment and prevention options surrounding pancreatic cancer during this National Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. CINJ is a Center of Excellence of UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The pancreas is a six-inch long, pear-shaped gland (located in the abdomen), which helps make enzymes for food digestion. The lifetime risk for developing pancreatic cancer is one in 76 for both men and women, with African American men having a slightly higher risk. There is only a five-percent, five-year survival rate. According to the ACS, three in ten cases are thought to be caused by smoking. Symptoms include jaundice, fatigue, weight loss and abdominal pain.
